Real Wedding : Abby & Gabi

One of the great things about photographing weddings is the very intimate glimpse into other lives, cultures and traditions it provides. Abby and Gabi couldn't have been a more incredible couple to introduce us to our very first Orthodox Jewish Wedding. Despite being ridiculously hot and humid, with a heat index of 107 in the DC suburbs where family and friends gathered for their ceremonies, Abby & Gabi were perfectly cool, calm and collected, knowing that Sunday morning marked the beginning of an incredible journey together.

Before the ceremony and traditions began, we snuck away outside of the Synagogue to capture the family portraits, and of course, a few of the adorable couple!
Another awesome advantage to being a husband and wife team is that you can split up. Nic hung with the guys during the groom's Tisch, while I stayed with the bride and documented the whirlwind of excitement leading up to the Bedecken. One of my favorite moments was when Gabi leaned toward Abby and whispered something very private in her ear. They were enveloped in a sea of cheering friends and family, but in that single moment, it was just the two of them, and it was such a beautiful thing to capture on film.
A little while later, the traditional ceremony took place. Despite spending all morning together for photos and the veiling, Gabi still got a little emotional watching Abby walk down the aisle.

The party starts at the end of the ceremony and from what we learned, doesn't stop throughout the entire reception!
